Projects Planned for 2005
- Stream cleanup activities
- Labeling of storm drains in collaboration with the Sudbury River Watershed Organization
- Public event(s) to celebrate the Ashland portion of the Sudbury River
- Shoreline surveys to gather qualitative data about streams and riverbanks. To join
a survey group, contact us!
- Initiated acceptance by state for two public boating access points on the Sudbury River in Ashland
- Creation of opportunities for projects sponsored by various federal or
state environmental agencies
- Cooperate with other regional environmental/watershed groups.
Recent Activities of Stream Team
- Participated in Earth Day celebration in May '04 and April '05
- Participated in RiverFest 2004 in June
- Participating in USGS Aquatic Habitat Study of the Sudbury River
- Introducing World Water Monitoring Day event in October for group participation
- Joined with the multitown Sudbury River Watershed Organization
- Formed shoreline survey groups, which performed shoreline surveys

Goals of the Ashland Stream Team
- Improve the condition of Ashland's streams and their watershed
- Raise awareness about streams and watershed protection
- Establish Adopt-a-Stream groups for greater monitoring of Ashland's streams
- Organize environmental outreach and education projects for Ashland youth groups
and citizen volunteers
